BAFTA Nomination for ‘Flying Monsters 3D’
Flying Monsters 3D has become the first stereoscopic 3D programme to be nominated for a BAFTA award. In the official nominations for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts’ annual Television Awards, announced today, the film was nominated in the Specialist Factual category.
Flying Monsters 3D, written and presented by David Attenborough, is a groundbreaking 3D film in which the world’s leading naturalist sets out to uncover the truth about pterosaurs, a group of reptiles that took control of the skies during the age of the dinosaurs. Based on the latest discoveries and research, the film uses state of the art 3D technology and CGI to bring the story of giant flying monsters and their prehistoric world to life.
The film was first shown on Sky 3D on Christmas Day 2010, and the BAFTA nomination comes just days before the film’s theatric release – Flying Monsters 3D will be showing at the BFI IMAX, London, and in cinemas across the UK from Friday 6th May. The film will be released in giant screen theatres and cinemas around the world later this year.
The winners of the BAFTA Television Awards will be announced on Sunday 22nd May. Find out more about the film here.
