‘Dino Gangs’ Features In Times+ Event
World-renowned dinosaur expert Dr Philip J Currie, featured in Atlantic Productions’ new documentary film Dino Gangs, will be talking about his groundbreaking research at an event hosted by Times+ on Wednesday 22nd June.
Following a five-year dig in Mongolia, Currie now has the evidence to support his radical theory that far from being the solitary creatures of our imaginations, tyrannosaurid dinosaurs were cooperative pack animals who and lived and hunted in gangs. “I believe these tyrannosaurids hunted in deadly, bloodthirsty packs,” says Currie. “It is definitely time to rewrite the dinosaur books.”
The event is a rare opportunity to meet Dr Currie, who is based at the University of Alberta, and hear about his work on the discovery of 90 skeletons of the tyrannosaurid Tarbosaurus found in one region of the Gobi Desert. His analysis included using CT scans to build a 3D model of the tyrannosaurid brain.
The Times+ event will include exclusive clips from Dino Gangs, which will be screened in the UK by Discovery Channel on Sunday 26th June. Phil Currie will be signing copies of the major new book Dino Gangs: Dr Philip J Currie’s New Science of Dinosaurs which is published by Harper Collins.
The event will start at 7pm on Wednesday 22nd June 2011, and is being held at Congress Centre, 28 Great Russell Street, London, WC1B 3LS. Tickets are £12.50, £10 for Times+ members, £5 for children under 16 and are available from Times+.
